Picture Day

Does anybody but me hate picture day? This was our first actual School Picture Day, but man, pictures always stress me out. What should they wear, how should we do their hair, then, they are all ready and cute, and you have to hope that they stay that way, and hope that a good picture comes out of the ordeal. Personally, I thought my Brielle looked pretty dang cute on picture day. Now we wait...

Lincoln Logs

I never had Lincoln Logs as a kid. It wasn't ever a huge desire of mine. Charles did, and he loved them. Brooke got some for her birthday and has been in heaven. She could sit in her room and build houses all day long. The only problem is, Charles also taught Jacob how much fun it is to knock them down. So we take pictures! Now Brooke wants me to take pictures of every house she builds. Oh, and Jacob just wants his picture taken every time the camera is out.

My Little Dancer

I had The Price is Right going the other day, and when the music at the end started, and the guy that won started jumping around like a crazy person, Jacob joined right in. I tried to get him on video, and I got some, but right at the first he had his pointer finger up in the air and was rockin out. I missed it, but it was sure cute!

The Birthday Boy

This year we decided that cakes, candles, and singing are really done for the enjoyment of your kids. Charles birthday was WAY more exciting for them than it was for him. He did get some cool toys though, so hopefully he had a good birthday. I know what I liked best about it...Cafe Rio. We loved spending your day with you! Saturday Birthdays are the best!

Caught up!

This is a post just to say, I am finally caught up, I have nothing more to blog about! It's the first time I've been caught up all summer! Hopefully things will slow down so I have more time to blog, or less to blog about.

Brooke's First Day of Preschool!

After sending Brielle off to 2 years of preschool, and watching her go to Kindergarten last week it was FINALLY Brooke's turn. She has been wanting to go to school for a good 2 years now, and she finally got to. She was excited. She woke up early and got her new clothes on. It was hard for her to have Brielle leave at quarter to nine, she didn't understand why she had to wait a whole hour longer. She was ready to go an hour early, backpack and all. Now, I have 1 and a half hours of Jacob all alone every Tues. and Thurs. What will I do with myself?

Another Weekend Getaway

I guess I just can't stay away. We spent Labor Day weekend in St. George. We had a good time, the usual, golf, spend money, swim. I didn't take very many pictures, but I did get some cute ones of the kids sleeping on the floor. There are plenty of available beds, but for some reason they all like the floor.

Oh, and while we were playing Phase 10, Brooke was trying to pull Jacob around on a blanket in the basement, and she pulled the blanket right out from under him. He landed head first on the leg of the pool table. It gave him a pretty good goose egg, but it didn't take him long to get over it.

Brielle's First Day of Kindergarten!

Last week Brielle started Kindergarten. She was so excited. I was nervous, you know, will she be able to find the bathroom, will she know how to get to class, all of that. I was also nervous about falling apart. I didn't! Wahoo for me! Dropping her off was a lot easier than I expected it to be. I think her excitement helped. So the first day of school, I walked her into the gym, and waited there until she walked with her teacher to class. The second day of school, just as we were about to walk out the door she informed me that she knows where her school is, and how to get there, and that she wants to walk herself to school today. I finally had to call Charles so he could talk her out of it. I guess she is growing up. She asked again yesterday if she could walk. Maybe I should let her (and follow her in the car of course), or maybe I should just walk her to school. I finally told her yesterday that she was going to be at that school for 6 years, and would have plenty of chances to walk there. Probably more than she will want. Oh, and day 2, she did get lost trying to find the bathroom, and she survived!

A Makeshift Blanket

Brooke and Brielle were playing Lincoln Logs in their room, and Charles went it to "play" with them. He fell asleep on the bed, and they couldn't find a blanket to cover him up with, so they made one! Looks snuggly!

The Big Camping Trip

So I'm finally getting around to writing about the big camping trip. I put some pictures in a slide show, which looks a little hickish. We are "Dedicated Hunters" you know. We headed to Central Utah for 9 days of camping, and bow hunting. We had great luck with the bow hunt, we brought nothing home! That is my goal every year, and I succeeded again. Yes, Charles did have a good shot at a deer, but it was Brielle's night to hunt with him, and he didn't have the heart to kill a deer in front of his 5 year old daughter. I was very glad about that. He was hoping he would find the deer again, but never did. Oh well, maybe next year (or at the end of the month when we go down for the muzzleloader hunt.) I'm perfectly happy coming home empty handed, don't tell Charles.

Besides our avid hunting, we had a great time camping. Besides celebrating Brooke's birthday, and our anniversary, we played games, ate junk, drank lots of Diet Pepsi, and had a very relaxing week. It was a lot hotter than we would have liked, but we had fun. I must say though, that much camping, and the serious sleep deprivation was NOT a good thing for Jacob. I saw a side of him that was NOT pleasant. Wow, I don't know if you've ever been chewed out by a 20 month old kid, but Charles' entire family now knows what it feels like. He was ORNERY! Wow. It was good to get him home and get him caught up on sleep. He also had allergies, and got stung twice by yellow jackets. Poor kid. Brooke got stung too, oh, and DON"T buy yellow jacket traps. We bought one and caught 1 wasp. Opening a can of Mtn. Dew and leaving it on the table works much better.

Just happy to be home, bathed and playing with the teddy bears...

And Jacob, finally a smile...and a juicy...
