Sand Hollow and Some Pool Time

Friday morning Charles had a lot of work to do so it was close to lunch time before we headed out. His parents also headed home that morning. We finally found a hobby store that was open and had what we needed, so once we got the cars all plugged in and charging we drove out to Sand Hollow. We played in the water and sat on the beach.

The girls set out to swim to the bouy.

They made it.

We had lunch there.

And Charles got some work done.

We played a little football in the water, but by then the wind had really picked up so we decided to head out.

We drove out to Gunlock reservoir so see the water flowing over. It was super crowded so we didn't get out. Even after calling our condo 3 times before we left home, and being assured 3 times the pool would be open, it ended up never opening while we were there. We were all pretty bummed out, but I called the resort my dad has a place at and their pool was open!! So we headed over there and spent the rest of the afternoon swimming and laying in the sun.

We even had the pool to ourselves for awhile.

We picked up Café Rio and went back to the condo to eat, shower, and run the RC cars.

We let the kids watch a movie and we headed to bed. Saturday we got a slow start. We slept in, and slowly packed up and checked out. We stopped at a few places on the way out of St. George, then headed for home with a stop in Cedar City for lunch. That night Charles put together my patio heater and we tried it out. It's amazing! Pretty sure I'm going to love that thing.

It was so fun to get away for a little while. A change of scenery, some heat, something different. Now back to business, finishing out home school and headed back to work.

Snow Canyon and Leeds

Thursday morning we got up and ready. Charles' parents had some things they wanted to go do so we set out on our own. We stopped at a few hobby stores for RC batteries but couldn't find one that was open. While we were out side waiting on one to open, and Charles was on a call, the boys found a hill to climb.

We gave up on that mission and headed to Snow Canyon. We started out on the Butterfly trail and connected to the Lava trail. The boys loved sprinting up the rocks.



We found a lava cave!



We hiked into the cave as far as we could go.







We came across this oasis that was full of tadpoles.



On the way back Jacob climbed to the top of this rock. You can kind of see him up at the tippy top.

Once we were hot and tired we found a picnic area and had lunch.



Work has been really crazy the last month or so for Charles so he spent a lot time on the phone being that is was a work day. He likes to wander while he talks on the phone.

We headed out of Snow Canyon and drove up by Dixie Rock. We found a place to park and got out to watch the F-35's fly over. This is a horrible picture, but the best that I got.

We stopped for a drink at Swig and then headed back to the condo for a break. We relaxed there for awhile, and then forced Grandma and Grandpa to go back out with us to a new place Charles found. It's off the Leed's exit so it was a little bit of a drive, but so worth it. It called the Red Reef Trail and it's in the Red Cliffs Recreation Area. You park right in a campground and it's a very short hike to a waterfall. We passed this little arch along the way.



We made it to the waterfall, but had to feel out the place. We watched a few people jump.

Then all the kids went for it.



Caleb jumped first. It was a pretty narrow area you had to jump between but everyone made it just fine. Every time they jumped my heart raced a little.















Everyone jumped about 3 times.



And they all had fun exploring above the waterfall, and swimming in the pool.





It was a highlight of the trip for sure. We grabbed this picture on the way out.

We went back to the condo and had taco salad for dinner. We visited, had pie from Croshaws and played a little pickleball.



It was a super fun day and so nice to be out in the heat!
