A Big Win

Caleb's soccer team won their game last night 5-1 and Caleb scored a killer goal. It was fun to watch, his team played great. He is loving soccer right now, and Charles is loving coaching him.

He even got the opportunity to be one of the captains.

This kid earned $50 yesterday. He keeps telling me he needs a job, so I'm grateful for little opportunities here and there. This he earned mowing. He was pretty excited.

And just for fun, this pile here is what I cleaned out of my car the other night after another day of practices and games. I'm really loving the phase of life we are in right now. It's busy but so fun chasing our kids around watching them do what they love.

Stitches

On Monday I was working on the laundry when I got a call from the school that Jacob had cut his thumb on a mandarin orange can at lunch and that he needed stitches. I went to pick him up and he was fine other than the thought of stitches. He said it didn't even hurt. He was just nervous to be sewed up. Here's what it looked like when he got in the car at the school.

I didn't take the bandaid off, we just went straight to the 5 minute clinic. They got us right back and we took a look at the wound. 

He watched the shots the whole time.

But when it was time for the actual stitches he didn't want to see at first. It didn't last long, he ended up watching that pretty intently also. In fact when we left he told me he knew how to tie the knot, and then explained it all to me. He was fascinated.

Only $220 later he was all stitched up and he asked me to take him back to school because they were making solar ovens in intro to tech and he didn't want to miss it. And I think he wanted to show off his new stitches. He told me he was now going to be Frankenstein for Halloween, but sadly they will be gone by then.

Last Week

Brielle decided to get a job as a lifeguard at the Wasatch Aquatic Center. She's been very excited. She took the lifeguard training class last June but put off applying. Last week she finally applied, interviewed, and then last Friday her awesome grandpa took her to the school district office to turn in her information and fill out all her paperwork. She got her uniform and jumped right into working on Monday. So far she is loving it. Her dad ordered her an OnCard and she already has a list of things she wants to buy with her first paycheck.

Found this in my kitchen on Thursday. We have boys living here. Should I be worried? Luckily the foil was gone.

It's like Christmas around here! Charles received his new soccer balls for his team so we spent the evening labeling them and filling them with air.

Caleb got to go on a date with Charles and I on Friday night. Brielle, Brooke and Jacob all went to the high school football game so he was stuck with us. I don't think it was too rough on him.

There are 2 huge fires in Utah County right now. It was pretty smoky on Friday which caused Caleb's school fun run to be held inside. They ran through the halls instead of outside. 

We woke up to smoke on Saturday also and all soccer games were cancelled. Everyone was pretty sad. 

The air in Park City was clear though, so Jacob was able to go play all day at the Utah Olympic Park with his friend Fisher.

Babies and Soccer

Yesterday I was finally able to go to Axtell to see Anne's new baby Millie. She's just over 2 weeks old and is the cutest baby ever! We went to lunch, visited and I held Millie the entire day. It was so hard to leave!! 

 Once I left there I ran straight to Jacob's soccer game in Heber. He played well, it's fun to watch him.

The Gift That Keeps On Giving

Once every couple of years Charles gets this motorcycle up and running. Yesterday he put a new kick start on it and it fired right up. A lot of smoke, but hey, it's old! What do you expect?

Soccer Saturday and an Escape Room

Saturday was awesome start to finish. We got up early and drove to Lehi to watch Caleb play soccer.

Then we stopped for lunch at Kneaders and headed back to Heber for him to play on another team that needed some help.

As soon as that game was over we loaded up and went to Orem. We had given Charles a trip to an escape room for his birthday. We chose the O.K. Corral Jailbreak at Escapes In Time. I think he thought I was a little crazy when he opened it, but it was super fun!

In the waiting room they had a bunch of puzzles and games to play with while we waited for our turn. Then they took us in, explained the game, and gave us an hour to get out. We chose a room that was a 4 difficulty. We probably should've done a 3, but we made it out and only went over our time by 5 minutes. We did have to ask for help a few times.

I would definitely do it again. It was a fun thing to do as a family, and something different from the usual.

We went to Costco for pizza and then came home to watch the BYU game. Saturdays with family really are the best. We are pretty lucky to have each other.

Forty One

Thursday was Charles' birthday. He was up bright and early to get to work so we made cinnamon rolls and orange rolls for him to eat as he drove to Park City. He was in meetings all day so we didn't see him until the evening.

We had Tony's Tacos for dinner, got quench it's for everyone and then Jacob and Caleb went to soccer practice. We went for a ride and watched a little of practice.

The bishop told Charles he could skip his meetings so when soccer was over Grandpa and Suzanne came over and we gave him his presents!

Caleb went first. He gave him the new Avenger's movie.

I gave him a new travel toiletry bag. He was for sure the most excited about that one.

Jacob got to give him the biggest gift...a new air compressor.

And the girls gave him a trip to an escape room.

Cake Time!

We sure love this guy. We are glad he is ours. Here's to another year!
