Eye Surgery

On May 30th I went in for my vision correction surgery. I was scheduled for PRK instead of Lasik because my cornea was too thin for Lasik. So instead of creating a flap in the cornea they have to remove the outer layer of the cornea. No big deal, right? They did warn me that the recovery would be a little longer, but I was not super prepared. It was a struggle. For a long time.

It took a long time to get through all of the pre-op stuff they had to do, but finally it was done.

I actually felt pretty great when I was done. We stopped to grab lunch and then headed home.
After awhile the sun starting causing some serious sensitivity.
I pretty much spent the next week in the dark, flooding my eyes with eyedrops. My vision was pretty bad for about 5 or 6 months afterward, and I ended up going to my eye dr. and he referred me to Hoopes to make sure my eyes weren't ruined. They weren't. They just would not heal. I ended up going to multiple eye appointments at 3 different places for months. And trying 3 different glasses prescriptions to try to make it so I could legally drive. It was a little scary. Now that all of that is in the past, I'm so glad I did it. I love love love being able to see without glasses or contacts.

Memorial Day Weekend

First of all, Brielle made this super cute business card holder for Charles for his office. He loves it. It says "I love you, Dad" under the lid.
Now on to Memorial Day Weekend...Jacob was playing in a basketball tournament in Salt Lake and his first game was Friday night.
Saturday morning Charles and I went for a bike ride.

Then we did some shopping and went to 2 more games, with Chik-fil-a in between. Sunday was a normal old Sunday, and Monday we went to a game in Salt Lake, and then ended up in Provo for shopping and lunch at Chili's. We came home for a bit, then went out to Strawberry to pick up the camp trailer. We did make it to the cemetery to drop off a Pepsi for Grandma.
We also made it to the school to get a picture of Caleb's chalk art.

4th Grade Program and Our Bird Friends

May 23rd was Jacob's 4th grade program. The Utah Program, one of my favorites. He dressed like a cowboy.

The square dance was my favorite part. I have a cute video! The only problem was that Caleb's partner didn't show up so he had to dance with his teacher. He was a little embarrassed.

That day I also got some pictures of my bird friends that come to visit my bird feeder.
Sometimes they're friendly. Other times they take each other out, like the picture below. They are kind of fun to watch.

The End of Soccer Season

The boys both played their last soccer games of the season on May 18th. We had to divide and conquer so Brielle went with Charles to Caleb's game in Alpine. I told her to keep me updated. She did a good job, and reminded me a few times that it was cold.

And she got a team picture. Mission accomplished.
I stayed here and went to Jacob's game.
It was a good season.  And tryouts for next year are next week. There's no break from soccer!!

May 11th Activities

May 11th was another busy Saturday. The girls had a swim meet here in Heber in the morning. Between their events we did some yardwork and some housework.

Afterwards we had lunch at Arby's and then hung out at the house for a little while.

Then we were off to soccer!

That evening we went to Provo and had dinner at Wingers and went Mother's Day shopping for trees and new chairs for the front porch.

The Color Festival

May 9th was the color festival fundraiser for the 2 middle schools in town. I was surprised that Jacob wanted to go because he doesn't love being dirty. He went with Ayden and they had a great time.

Rotary Club Honors Night

Monday, May 6th we were able to honor Brooke for her 4.0 GPA. She is finishing her Freshman year in the top 10% of her class, which means she was invited to the honors night put on by the Rotary Club. This girl works her tail of in school and it shows. We are very proud of her.

There were a lot of Freshmen, here is a group shot of them all.

I thought this ranking was pretty cool.
Good job Brookie! We love you!

May Sports

The first weekend of May was filled with a 3 day basketball tournament for Jacob, and a 2 day swim meet for  the girls. Both were in Utah County so we got to see a lot of both even though there was some overlap. They all did a great job.

And a few basketball pictures.

And I went to a workout class with my office for a team building activity.
It was a fun week watching our kids compete. And I couldn't leave this picture of Jacob out. He takes his basketball on our Sunday walks and his ball gets pretty dirty from the asphalt. Apparently he touches his face a lot. He needed a shower after this walk.
