At the beginning of December we read the Christmas story about placing a piece of straw in a manger each time you do a good deed for someone, that way on Christmas the manger is soft and full of straw for baby Jesus. Grandpa and Grandma Balch gave us a manger a few years ago, and some straw to go with it. There probably weren't as many acts of kindness as I had hoped there would be, but we did all try, and our manger did gradually fill with straw. It is a great tradition for our family and I hope that we can continue it. Here is a picture of Brooke's bed after someone had made it for her. :)

Sugar cookies!! We made them a little early this year so we didn't have any for Santa, but we made him some peanut butter bars.
Last year for Christmas I got some speakers for my ceiling. I really wanted them in so that we could listen to our Christmas music this year. Not only did Charles put them in for me, but he bought 2 more for the family room. Now just to get some installed in the bedroom and garage!
The 5th grade does a circuit project every year, where they have to build a house with a live circuit made using a battery and a paper clip. Charles went all out with switches and different kinds of light. Brielle decided she wanted to build a lighthouse and she loved how it turned out. It was such a fun project for them to do together.
On Caleb's last day of preschool before Christmas vacation he put on a little program. Charles and I were both working that day, but luckily I have awesome friends who take pictures for me. Thanks Sarah!
