Grandpa Balch's bear hunt lasted all through September so we spent a little time in Beaver throughout the month. We decided to leave our trailer on the mountain after Labor Day so that following Friday, the 9th, we headed back down. It was a very quick trip, with no bear sightings and some cold rain. We pulled the trailer home that Saturday. It was a quick trip, but we had fun.
The hunters took a weekend off and were back down there the weekend of the 23rd and 30th. I don't have many pictures because I just sent Charles and Jacob the last two times. Jacob was in absolute heaven. He had grandpa, grandma, uncle Joe, and dad all to himself. Uncle Matt even came down from Boise one of the weekends. Here is the area they were hunting.
The dog guys. Jacob though the bear dogs were so cool, he is still talking about, and imitating them. And he informed us that you can only pet them when the owner says so. The black one was his favorite.
Some of the deadfall that they had to hike through. Chuck came home completely exhausted and sore. He did some pretty intense hiking trying to track down those dogs.
My "Bear Bait"
and his dad...
If you look close you can see their camp way down below.
Matt and Joe (with his Diet Mountain Dew), not sure what Matt did to deserve this. I mean really, making him walk right next to the truck?!
Camp, Jacob and Caleb slept in my car.
More terrain...Charles walked right passed a mountain goat...and it was below him.
Charles and Jacob had a great time hunting bear, and are so excited to go back down in November. Hopefully this time Grandpa will get a bear!! Thanks for letting my boys join you grandpa!
