Capitol Reef!

We had a long weekend over the 24th of July so we decided to make the most of it! On Friday night we drove down to Richfield to stay at Grandma and Grandpa's house. We got up super early on Saturday and we all piled in our car and drove to Capitol Reef. Charles had found an awesome hike down Sulfur Creek and we decided to start there, before it got too hot. Once you park the car and hike down the creek, which is about 5 miles, you end up at the visitor center. At first the creek bed was dry, and it was pretty hot.

It wasn't long before we got to the water.

It was fun to hike down a creek, something a little different than we are used too. It was nice to stay cool also. I know I took a million pictures but it really was such beautiful scenery, and we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

We stopped about midway for a rest and a snack.

That was when the fun really started. There were 4 little waterfalls that you had to climb down.

Brooke was a little (a lot) nervous.

She was pretty relieved when she'd made it.

This is where the boys gave up on wearing shirts.

The last waterfall to climb down had a huge pool at the bottom that you could jump into and swim in, but it was pretty muddy. The boys absolutely loved it! They could have swam all day.

We finally arrived at the Visitor Center and we were hot, wet and dirty! We got to have a little rest there while Charles and Doug hopped on their bikes and started the long, hot, uphill bike ride back to pick up the car. Apparently it was rough! Luckily someone offered to pick them up along the way. Once they were back we loaded up and went to a picnic area to have lunch and relax.

After lunch we decided to hike to Hickman Bridge. It is a pretty cool arch.

Caleb found himself a cave on the way down.

We definitely wore everyone out! Everyone crashed as soon as we got in the car. We drove back to Grandma and Grandpa's to shower off all that red sand.

That night we joined Sarah's family for a firework show. It was such a crazy fun day, and everyone slept well that night.

Cute Things My Kids Say

Caleb (3) came out to the family room and said,"Look Mom! I have a treasure in my pants!" Which of course caught my attention. Then he preceded to pull a kaleidoscope out of his drawers.
Every time Caleb (3) gets hurt, blood or no blood, he says, "Got a owie! It's bweeding! Fire comin' out!"
Brielle (8) was asking about her new cousin. She was wondering if it would be a boy or a girl, and she asked me how the doctor can tell. I told her that he puts a camera on the mom's belly and looks for girl parts or boy parts. Then she goes, "but they don't have hair yet!"
Caleb (2), I just want to remember how he says stuff as a two year old. Instead of saying the letter "L" he says "H". He says, "me sit you hap" (I want to sit on your lap), "play Harry Potter Hego Set," "No hike it" (I don't like it), "hock the door," etc. So cute. He uses the letter "T" for the letter "F", "take my coat ott." He is also getting very good at his colors. He knows purple, pink, orange, red, green, etc., but my two favorite colors are "Octimus Prime" not Optimus, Octimus, which is blue, and "Bumblebee" which is yellow. Every yellow car we pass is a bumblebee car, he insists on eating on the bumblebee plate, and having the bumblebee balloon. He uses them just like the color names. He told his friend the other day that he had an actimus prime coat. My favorite is when we take the girls to school. He sees the yellow bus and every. single. time. says, "Look! Bumblebee But!" So so funny. Love that kid! We also saw Santa in the mall the other day for the first time this season, Jacob wanted to tell him what he wanted for Christmas and Caleb just wanted to "give him a hug."
Jacob (4) was sitting at the counter eating lunch, and he said to me, "Mom, I have to tell you something." So I said, "What." "I'm the fastest pee-er in the whole entire world." Pause. "And the longest pooper." Nice.
I asked my kids if they were happy. Brooke and Brielle both said yes. Jacob said nothing. I asked again...Jacob, are you happy? He said, "No, I not happy! I Jakey!"
We were going for a drive the other day, and all of the sudden Jacob (2) very excitedly yells, "A Ball!, In the Sky! A Ball!" It was the moon. We told him it was the moon, and now he calls it Moon Ball
Brooke (4) had goobers in her eyes the other morning, so Charles told her all about the sand man, and how he puts sand in your eyes so that you can sleep, and when you wake up there are goobers in there. I swear he said boogers, he insists he said goobers. Anyway, the next day she told me all about how the "Booger man" came and put boogers in her eyes.
We got a new clock that chimes for Charles 10 years at the bank. Charles put it up and the next morning it went off and Brooke (4) said, "How can we hear that all the way from Grandma's house?" Our St. George grandparents have a grandfather clock. It's the only one she's heard.
Brielle (5) came into our room last night, and mumbled, "I just want...to ride...downstairs...on the bucket." A sleepwalker maybe? I hope not.
For years Brooke has transposed her sentences, and I finally decided I needed to write a few down so I wouldn't forget. She talks like Yoda! The other day she asked for a drink and I told her she could have a little one. She took it and said, "A tiny little drink, I took." Another one, "A drink, I got." I asked her if she would take care of Caleb for me for a minute and she said, "Yes, but a binky I will need." She does it all of the time. She can't say her "R"s either, so my sister-in-law calls her her "English Neice," it's fun to listen to her talk.
Jacob seems to think that if a word starts with a "Y" it should sound like a W. For Yes he says Wes, for yellow he says wellow, for yeah he says weah, etc. it is cute, at least to me!
This wasn't my kid, but it was cute. I was watching the little neighbor girl and Caleb woke up from his nap. I took him downstairs and the little girl said, "Oh! Your baby is awake! I want to pet it!
We were going for a Sunday drive, and we ended up in the Girls Camp, naughty, I know, but Brielle asked if we could camp there. We explained to her that when she is 12, and is a "Young Woman" that she can go camping there. She sat there for awhile, thinking, then asked, "Where do the 'Little Daddy's' go camping at?"
Brooke got a little confused one day when I asked her what a bunny says...she said, "Rabbit, Rabbit"
My girls wanted a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. While we were making them they asked me what "boy cheese sandwiches" tasted like
Brooke was trying some Pringles Stix that Brielle brought home from preschool. She said, "Mom, I don't really like these things cuz they make my heart feel likes it's falling in love."
